I talked to Mr. Raymond about All City and Solo and Ensamble. Aparently, there isn't an AISD solo and ensamble. Also, you had to have made district choir to be in all city. How wrong is that? This means that I cannot participate in any out-of-school choral events this school year. I didn't go to TMEA because I was not taking private lessons (and still not), so I thought there was not enought time to learn the music. I am not going to UIL solo and ensamble this saturday, because I cannot afford an accompianist. I thought "oh, there's always AISD solo and ensamble, and they don't require a live accopianist. I can use a disk accompianment." How wrong was I? So, now I'm stuck with nothing but UIL contest with choir. Should I be feeling bad like I am right now? Is this ok?

My parents are threatening to take the lock off my door if I don't stop locking my door. I have to lock it, and they just can't see it. It gets too noisy if I leave my door open, and if I close my door, people find a need to bust in without knocking. So I find it necessary to lock my door. Try telling my parents that.

I think things in my life are starting to straigten themselves out. I feel rather happy today. This may all change when my parents get my report card, but for now, I do not care. I am going to live life for being what it is. I just need to cast all my burdens upon the Lord, for He will take care of me. I just needed to bring this to the Lord. Things can only get better from here.

As I hopped out of the van at church this morning, I was cheerfully greeted with the sound of sparrows in a nearby bush. When I went to pass that bush, on the way in to church, I found out that half of the delightful chirping notes were coming from my brother Robert. He and a sparrow in the bush were having a wonderful little conversation. I have never seen (nor heard) anything so cute and sweet (and all together funny) in a long time.

I went to hear the Austin Symphony Orchestra tonight. There was a guest soloist. His name was Jian Wang (yeah sort of like John Wayne). He plays cello. He was pretty good. I would say he is close to as good as YoYo Ma, but not quite. He's still rather young. When Jian was playing, he moved around alot. I guess the chair was moving on him or something. He soloed in Hayden's Concerto in C Major for Violoncello and Orchestra.
During intermission, Robert and I got to say hello to him. Robert (who is playing Bass) told Mr. Wang that he is beginning "The Elephant", and Mr. Wang, in reply, started to play it on his cello. It was all pretty sweet. He seems to be a very nice man.
After intermission, Mr. Wang sat in for Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in e minor. He sat with the back of the section. There was a really neat French Horn solo in this piece. I wish some of my band friends could have been their to hear it, especially the french horn players *ahem*Lucinda*ahem*. It was quite neat. I hope to hear it again soon.
It's only the wanna be's who are rude. The most amazing of soloists are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
After the performance, I was able to talk to Jian Wang more. He is pretty amazing. His cello case was really cool. It was a dark grayish color and it had pages of music designed all over it. Quite neat indeed.
I enjoyed the performance overall.
Charlotte Ellison babysat Joseph. At 7 years old, he is still a little wiggly for such performances.
Last night there had been a bat flying around during the first piece. Maestro Bay informed us about such. Thus my brother was on constant bat alert, swearing he saw a bat. I had such a hard time not laughing durning the performance. It was all fun.

Today was the Texas vs. OSU game. Texas lost by 5 points, which was a real come back. Texas lagged behind 9 to 11 points for most of the game, or at least most of the 2nd half. It seemed that everytime I looked away from the game, Texas would lead again. Thus, I went and sat and did nothing for the last 5 "minutes" of the game.

I want to sing. I just want my chance to sing. Even though I am in choir, I feel as if I am not being able to sing to my full potential. Mr. Raymond may not be as bad as I thought he was. He still frustrates me from time to time. I just want to sing. I am probably one of the very few students who does not take private lessons or is in the fine arts academy for choir. I'm not in the fine arts academy because I had walking pneumonia when I tried out. My voice was stark raving mad.
I'm going to talk to Mr. Raymond about All City Choir. If it's one thing that I truly want to do, it's All City Choir. I hope that my lack of participation in events outside of school has not limited my ability to go to all city. I will try to find out.

I had cello sectionals after school. Of 7 cellos, only 2 showed up. These two were the 2nd and 3rd chair cellests (former 1st and 2nd chair). So we packed up about 1/2 an hr early since we got through all the music. The next 1/2 hr, 45 minutes, I just stuck around the orchestra room. It was all cool... Avatar was there and was messing with Mr. Pringle. It is fun to watch them two together... until they start trying to get a girl to go out with him... why does my name keep being brought up?

I was sitting in the Latin room for my Spanish class when it happened. A big crackling sound and then silence. A few minutes later a nausious smell in the room... followed by white/ light grey smoke streaming down from the lighting fixture that had gone out. The smell nausiated me. Thankfully my belly was empty so I did not have a brief bathroom break... to put it meekly.
The rest of the period was spent in the language hallway and the French room. Great fun indeed.

I've actually been rather cheery today (no sarcasm intended). The funny thing in this all is that I kept thinking of ways to commit suicide... perhaps one of these days I'll post the list I've managed to create... they're all very unique ideas... I could seriously run away at this minute... I just couldn't think of where to go. I could go to school, but then I'd be ticketed for trespassing. I could go to my grandparents house, but they would only detain me and call my parents and send me home. I could be a homeless person on 6th street, but then I wouldn't be able to complete my schooling, and I'd be left in Austin with my parents... kinda contradicts the reason for running away... ALL IN ALL, I don't feel like running away at the moment.
I've just got to keep in mind, it's only for about 3 more years, 3 more years... help me?

I had fun after school. (Good CLEAN Fun, thank you.)
One of my brothers is now a 6th grader at my former middle school. He's currently in weight lifting after school. Today just happened to be one of the days he has after school lifting. So, my other brother, my dad, and I waited outside for perhaps half an hour. During this time we passed a football. I can officially throw a football now... thanks to my dad and little bro. So we just waited on the side of the school for quite a while passing the football. It was great fun. The worst thing about it is my former Algebra teacher walked by while we were doing so... but, heck, whatever!
It was fun.
Ah a good day, all in all.

From a distant window,
Beyond the seven seas,
Over a many monsterous miles,
That's where I seem to be.

Far far away,
And a way way afar,
Where things stop to ponder,
That's where I seem to be.

Further than the moon,
Much farther than the Sun,
More gastly vast than the Galaxy,
That's where I seem to be.

In a world all my own,
Which ceases to be known,
No eye has laid sight upon,
That's where I seem to be.

Some where uncomprehendable,
Beyond imagination,
Beyond all disbelief,
That's where I seem to be.

Such a place is never known,
Nor ever trodden black,
Existing beyond a doubt,
That's where I seem to be.

Where I'm not, I am, yet,
Where I am, I'm not.
Uncomprehendable comprehension,
That's where I seem to be.

I think I'm finally learning to deal with this "shelteredness". I want my parent's respect, and I'm not willing to risk loosing it. Thus I'm not rebelling. It's only for 3 more years. 3 more years and I will be away at college, on my own. Yeah, it's no way to live, but while I can bare it, I am. I just need to keep telling myself... it's only for 3 more years.
I at least rebelled on Friday. I'm not supposed to watch PG13 movie, even though I'll be 15 in May. The MAC 1st period Orchestra watched a movie on HBO because we supposedly had a substitute (although no one showed up), and I was being told it was either rated PG13 or R. In 7th period, we watched a clip from the newest Romeo and Juliet which is rated PG13. In middle school, I would have excused myself to the hall or the portable stairs, but I just kept watching.
It's only for 3 more years... it's only for 3 more years...

Poor little puppy!!! He's a poodle, but you'd never know it unless you looked at the little poof on the end of his tail. We usually like to give him a Cocker Spaniel type hair cut. He ends up looking like Lady in "Lady and the Tramp"... poor little guy! (His face gets trimmed next weekend.)

I've put together a collection of jewelry which I'm thinking of making my every day wear. About half of the jewelry once belonged to my mom or grandmother. It consists of 2 rings, 5 necklasses ( grain of rice, dolfin what-ya-ma-call-it, trebble clef heart, sea shells choker, and white flower bead), 4 bracelets (watch, WWJD? elastic beads, miniature punk balls, and charm bracelet), colorful (70ish) flower posts, and clip on flower earings (since I don't have two holes in each ear). To top that all off, I have a blue elastic headband... This is 2 rings, 2 necklases, 3 bracelets, and a pair of earings more than I usually wear... Tomorrow I may decide I don't like it... or my parent's might not let me wear it... oh well.
I never knew I could ramble on for so long... sorry!

I saw a picture of Ben Hardee on Ms. Adamson's wall. It was supposedly taken in 7th grade. He's changed quite a bit, actually. Here everyone was going on and on about how he hadn't changed. I swear. If I had walked passed him on a road one obscure day, I don't think I would have recognised him. It was freaky. For one thing, his hair is quite a bit darker. For another, he's lost the little pudge that almost every elementary student has/ had. (I could name a few acceptions...)
Other people have changed too... Sam Bass, John Diaz, Danny, Amanda, Don Jolly, Hailey Hobrotchk, etc. Some people don't seem to have changed a bit, like Lucinda, John Minnich, John Morales, Ulyses Morales, Lindsey, etc. Time sometimes seems to have flown, while at the same time, doesn't seem to have turned a page in history. It's amazing when you enter this world I'm in, this wor of memories, both lost long forgotten and freshly detailed.

Ok... So, last night was the MAC pre-UIL Orchestra concert. I get to Orchestra this morning, my first period class, and Mr. Pringle yells on and on at the cellos. Now, I don't believe I'm deaf, but I do believe that the cello section was not the only section with problems... so the cellos rushed in ONE section. It's not the end of the world. Try telling Maestro Pringle that!
If you've failed to notice yet, I'm a little exasperated by this. This kind of set my tone for the day...
In choir we took this string and passed it around so that everyone had a grip on it. When we were through with this, the string looked like a gigantic spider web. Then Mr. Raymond had students start to drop out. He was trying to make the point that when one student doesn't do thier part, or drops out, that the others have to work twice as hard to pick up thier slack. I ended up not getting the better end of this deal because, (for this demonstration), Mr. Raymond was the first person to drop out and I was on the other end of his string, so I had to pick up his slack. Oh joy.
After having two directors shun our classes, why do I feel so carefree?

I painted my nails and put gloss on afterwards (which I NEVER do).
I trimmed my nails.
I worked on my political blog, which is finally back and running.
I took my dog for a walk. (He was going crazy because my brothers and our neighbor's dog was out.)
I watched a few movies (Peter Pan 2, Like Mike, Master of Disguise, and Mr. Gadget... yeah I need to get a life.)
Did 3/4 of my Geometry hwk.
Sat online for several hours when no one was on.
Blogged.

My Silent Prayer

They days of past are gone
Never to be seen again
Memories still there
Never to be experienced by friends

Whatever happened to the way things were
Where have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

Just to see your face once more
That smile I still love
Where is it now I wonder
That last time just wasn't enough

Whatever happened to the way things were
Why have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

The pain is still here
From the face I see only in my memory
No one can comfort my grieving soul
Until you are together with me

Whatever happened to the way things were
Where have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

Take this pain away from me
Something only you can do
Listen to my heart's cry
And make my wish come true

Whatever happened to the way things were
Where have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

Please explain to me why
I seek you and do not find
The comfort my hearts desires
And a peace of mind

Whatever happened to the way things were
Where have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

You are one of only a few
Who make me feel this way
Those who can talk to me
And turn my night to day

Whatever happened to the way things were
Where have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

To never see any of you again
To never talk to you face
I just need for all of you
To release your grace

Whatever happened to the way things were
Where have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

Give to me the gift not deserved
That's all I ask from you
And if you give this gift to me
I hope to thank you soon

Whatever happened to the way things were
Where have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

Thank you for hearing me out
And hearing my one true desires
Thank you all, that selected few
That create in my life a fire

Whatever happened to the way things were
Where have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

Thank you for giving me
A passion to live, give, create, and shine my light
Thank you all for giving me
My true and only sight

Whatever happened to the way things were
Where have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

Friends are forever at least they should be
That is what they all say
Hear my plea and grace me now
Please within me, stay

Whatever happened to the way things were
Where have the good times gone
Why do I feel this way
Will you make it stop

There isn't a lack
of chills down my back.
February first,
a day some will curse.
Explosions up high,
40 miles in the sky.
7 men dead
is what some do dread.
Debre on the gound
is the only thing found.
The hopelessness in hearts,
is found worse than poison darts.
Eyes glued to tv's,
while heads bow with bent knees.
The Lord be our guide,
we will not run and hide.
America stands tall,

February 1st, 2003, a day to remember. I was scedualed to play at 9:36 for solo and ensamble. As my dad returned from getting a battery for his camera, and Mr. Pringle arrived, something was being mentioned, but would not be made clear. My dad hushed anyone around who would talk about it, whatever it might have been.
When I returned to the cafeteria, where people were rehearsing for their turn to play, my parents informed me of the tragic news. The Space Shuttle Columbia had exploded on reentry. 6 Americans and 1 Israeli were aboard. At that time, speculation was going about that it had been an act of terrorism. No one could say for sure. I stood breathless as this news reached my ears. My jaw hung slightly open. My mind went blank. I no longer cared about waiting for my score from the judge. Pictures of the Space Shuttle Discovery exploding filtered through my mind. I was in shock. I could do nothing.
We returned home to find my brothers, 7 and 11, were watching the television closely. My dog was crying out for attention. He did not understand a thing that was going on, although he senced the tention in the air. He looked to me for comfort and I ran my fingers through his velvety soft fur to reassure him that we were all ok, that he was not to worry. My focus turned to the TV, where the rest of my family sat staring blankly in awe. As the images were replayed repeatedly, I felt a hoplessness that has not touched me since I first saw the images from September 11th. First thing you saw was an image of the shuttle on decent. The next thing you knew, bits and pieces of debris were breaking off of the shuttle. Never, in the history of space flight, has a module exploded on reentry.
As news was updated, as information became available, and live briefings were shown, my sence of helplessness grew. Columbia had lost contact with NASA, just before the explosion. The explosion had occured aproxx. 40 miles in the air, meaning that Columbia had not been hit by a rocket, thus this had not been an act of terrorism. A missle does not have the capability of hitting anything 40 miles high in the sky.
As even more information was released, I learned that upon take off, padding for the space shuttle had fallen off, hitting the left wing. Once docking at the space station, the crew looked into the damage of the shuttle. They concluded the damage was not bad enough to keep them from home. Before communication was lost, however, reports were being received from the shuttle that the damage was affecting the return flight more than had been expected. Minutes later all communication and tracking was lost. The debre field ranges from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Luisiana. Officals are telling all citizens to please not touch any debre you find, and to please contact local authorities immediately. Data may be collected from the debre that tells what happened.
It may be years yet until anyone is sure what exactly happened. Controllers are still in shock at the NASA control center in Houston. This mission is not being closed. Currently there are 3 men still on the space station. They have enough supplies to last them until the end of June. There is also an excape module on the space station if the 3 remaining astronauts need to return home.
I would like to send out my heartfelt sympathy to those families who lost loved ones on this mission, today. Their loss is being felt in echo around the world, today. They are remaining very brave. God bless them, and bring them peace.

Solo and Ensamble went well. I receieved a 1 on my class 2 solo. I got really nervous when I got into the room. There seemed to be a difference in moisture between the cafeteria and the orchestra room. This effected my ability to play well. To celebrate, my dad took me to La Madeline for coffee, and my family took me to Golden Corral for lunch. I returned to Lanier to check on how other people had done. Then I walked home. Lanier isn't even a block away from my house.
Next year I am required to take a class 1 solo. Since I was the last MAC student to leave Lanier, Mr. Pringle went ahead and gave me my medal and comment sheet. I need to start practicing for AISD solo and ensamble. I will be doing a harder peice then. I thought it would be fun to play an arrangement of the "4min 32sec concierto for piano" for string ensamble. Maybe I can talk Mr. Pringle into doing it for our end of year concert... he'll probably say no though.
